JUST PLAIN TRAPPED!!

I have been feeling very trapped lately. Trapped by so many things. I feel like I’m a hostage.

Where is the key? Who has the key? How do I get it?

A gentle voice comes from inside…..

“It’s you honey. You hold the key to unlock yourself. You have the power. I know it’s hard to put your courage in action, but you can do it. I believe in you. I have complete faith in you. All you have to do is take one step. One step forward is all it takes right now. Even a speck of faith in yourself and God is enough. All you have to do is the next right thing and watch as the prison walls crumble. I’m with you every step of the way.”

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that I have the power to change everything that I feel trapped by. But I can change my perspective and how I approach these things. There is also a whole lot that I can work on to create change within and among the things I feel trapped by.

A good friend of mine always reminds me of a beautiful outlook. She is constantly embracing the pain that comes up in her life as opportunities to heal. I often hear her saying things like:

I am grateful for and welcome the tears because I know that I am releasing grief and trauma and I am healing.”

I love when she says things like this because I need to hear this reminder ALL THE TIME! I don’t naturally have this type of perspective. My knee jerk response is more like “kill the pain at all costs”. I want to make it go away, not embrace it. I label it as “bad” and want to escape it or push it away. The irony of this is those are the ways that I trap myself in the pain and unknowingly become stuck in it.

What makes you feel trapped?

How do you get free?
